F.A.Q.

Can Bella & Bow's bathe/groom my aggressive dog?

We practice patience when dealing with all animals. Grooming can be very dangerous when a dog feels uncomfortable. We may suggest training, calming medication from your vet, multiple visits to form comfortability between your pet and their groomer, or that the pet be taken to a vet groomer for safety reasons. Bella & Bow's has the right to refuse services at any time. Aggressive dogs can be a risk to both themselves and the groomer. We ask that we are made aware of any aggressive issues or biting incidents involving your pet so that we can use caution when grooming them. Muzzling is our last resort, but we do have them on hand if necessary. Grooming will occur at the groomer's discretion. If at any time the groomer feels that the pet is a safety threat, grooming will cease, regardless to the degree of completion. The pet owner is responsible for the entire cost of the groom.

Can Bella & Bow's shave my double-coated pet?

Shaving double coated pets, including, but not limited to, Golden Retrievers, Shepherds, Labs, and Cats, can result in long term and irreversible damage to their coat. The coat may grow back patchy, coarse, or not at all. We will shave any pet at the customer's requests. However, we are not responsible to any long term damage of the coat. We suggest that the pet parent does research prior to the visit.

What if my pet has fleas or ticks?

When a pet is known to have fleas, we take precautions to protect all pets on the premises. If we are made aware of a possible flea infestation, we will schedule your pet accordingly and take them straight to the bath. Your pet will be given a flea bath and possibly a Capstar at the owner's expense ranging from $5-$15. This should kill all of the fleas on the pet but will not protect it once it goes home. We recommend a flea preventative from your vet.

We will remove ticks at additional cost and it is non-negotiable.

What if my pet is matted?

Pets with matted coats require extra care, time, and attention. It also causes extra wear & tear on grooming equipment. If the matting is minimal and the pet behaves well, we may be able to brush out the mats for an extra fee. However, if the matting is severe, the least painful and least stressful way to remove the mats is by shaving the pet. Bella & Bow's stands against causing serious or undue stress and pain to your pet by de-matting heavily matted coats. There is greater risk of nicking or scratching a matted pet during the grooming process. In addition, the skin may appear red, itchy, and/or irritated due to the lack of oxygen reaching in and under the mats. A hematoma is also a possibility if the mats have cut off the blood supply to the tips of extremities (such as the ears or tail). Bella & Bow's will not be held responsible for any injuries sustained while grooming a matted pet, including any aftereffects. This includes, but is not limited to, swelling, redness, itchiness, hematomas, and/or self-inflicted abrasions due to extreme rubbing. We do charge extra for matted coats; this is to cover the cost of the extra time and wear on equipment.

What vaccinations are required?

All pets are STRONGLY recommended to be up to date on all vaccinations and are REQUIRED to be up to date on their Rabies and Bordetella vaccination in order to receive any service.

What are the cancellation / No Show / Late Policies?

We will make every effort to contact each client before their scheduled appointments to remind them. However, the customer takes full responsibility for arriving to their appointment on time. Appointments are taken throughout the day and are only available for your pet at the specific time you have reserved. If you arrive 10+ minutes after your scheduled appointment time, we reserve the right to cancel your appointment and reschedule you for another day or possibly only do a service that requires less time. If we are still able to provide the service for your pet, there will be a late fee added to your balance of $10.

If you do not show up or cancel your appointment within 24 hours, you will be charged a fee of 50%. This fee will be charged to a card on file or added to your pet's next visit in addition to normal grooming costs. To avoid these fees, please give us a minimum of 24-hour notice, which will allow us adequate time to fill your pet's appointment spot with someone else.

If you are a habitual no show/cancellation offender, you may be asked to prepay for your service appointments. Your pre-payments for any future appointments are non-refundable.

As a small business, missed appointments hurt us tremendously. We must protect our business and our employees with these policies in order to continue care for your pets.

Can Bella & Bow's groom my new puppy?

We would love to groom your puppy! We believe it is important to start a pet's grooming experience early in life to get them accustomed to the sights, sounds, and handling of the salon. Once a puppy has received the required vaccinations, they are able to come in for their first visit. We recommend all puppy shots, as well, for their safety. We typically start new puppies/pets that have never been groomed before with a Mini Groom. You can find more information about our Mini Groom service on the Services page. We may have to do several Mini Groom visits for your puppy to become comfortable.
